How we handle information when you visit this website or make an enquiry.

Who is responsible for your information?
First Century operates through First Century Investments Limited (company number 08339839) and First Century Management Limited (company number 08375491). Each is responsible for the personal information it handles for its activities. The investments company owns the portfolio; the management company handles day-to-day property operations and management.
This notice covers use of this website and initial enquiries made through its email links. For privacy questions or to exercise your rights, contact First Century by email or write to the registered office shown in our company information.
What information is collected?
- Website visits. Our web server records technical details such as your IP address, the time of a request, the hostname, the page or file requested (including any query string), response status, response size and timing, browser details and a referring page where your browser supplies one. These records help us operate and protect the website, investigate faults and compile historical traffic statistics. A private server-side database archives these request records. A request is not necessarily a visit by a person: automated services, bots and requests for images or other files are also recorded.
- Enquiries you send. If you email us, we receive your email address, your message and any contact details, business information or attachments you choose to provide. Opening an email link does not send a message: you decide whether to send it using your email application.
You can browse without providing your name or contact details. We need enough information to respond if you make an enquiry. Please only include personal information relevant to your request.
Why we use information
We use website technical records for our legitimate interests in running a reliable and secure website, diagnosing problems, preventing misuse and understanding traffic to our business website over time. Historical reporting can show request totals, requested pages, referral sources and browser or device categories. It does not identify visitors by name or record which sections of a page they read.
We use enquiry information to answer questions, discuss property requirements or acquisition opportunities, and follow up on the matter you raised. This supports our legitimate interests in responding to people who contact us and managing our business relationships. Where you ask us to take steps towards a contract with you personally, the relevant basis is taking those steps at your request. We may also retain or disclose information where required to meet a legal obligation.
This website does not use advertising profiles or automated decision-making about visitors.
Our private administration reports use the IP address to estimate country, region and city using a locally stored location database. These estimates may describe a network provider or VPN exit point rather than your actual location. Visitor IP addresses are not sent to a third-party location lookup service. We also classify likely automated requests from browser information to filter traffic statistics; this is not a reliable identification of individual people.
How long information is kept
Routine website log files are rotated daily when they contain new records, with the current file and up to 14 rotated files retained. Separately, their request records, including IP addresses, are copied into a private database for ongoing historical traffic reporting. This database currently has no automatic expiry: records are not removed merely because the original log file has been rotated. A private backup of the database is also kept on the server.
The archive is not used for advertising profiles or decisions about individual visitors. Retention remains subject to applicable data-protection requirements and individual rights; you can contact us to ask about access, objection or erasure. Records needed to investigate a specific incident or meet a legal obligation may also be retained for that purpose.
Enquiry correspondence is kept for as long as needed to deal with the enquiry and any resulting business relationship. Relevant considerations include whether discussions are ongoing, whether a tenancy or transaction follows, and any applicable record-keeping obligations or need to establish or defend legal claims.
Your data-protection rights
Depending on the circumstances, you can ask to access or correct your personal information, have it erased, restrict its use or receive a portable copy. You can also object to processing based on legitimate interests. These rights are subject to the conditions and exceptions in data-protection law.
To make a request, email First Century. We may need to confirm your identity before providing personal information.
You can raise a concern with us or complain to the Information Commissioner’s Office, the UK’s data-protection regulator.
